Ward Leads Women's Volleyball in, 3-0, Loss to Skidmore

Springfield, Mass.—Senior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) registered six kills and six digs as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team lost their season-opener, 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 18-25), vs. Skidmore in first round action of the Springfield Invitational on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior middle hitter Jessica Brielmaier (West Greenwich, RI) and freshman outside hitter Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, MA) each had six kills.

• Senior libero Marisa Brynes (Cranston, RI) compiled 11 digs.

• Junior setter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) and sophomore setter Kaylin Labreche (Woonsocket, RI) combined for 25 assists with 13 and 12, respectively.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face Westfield State (1 p.m.) and Springfield (3:30 p.m.) in day two action of the Springfield Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 1.
