William C. Cotter ’96 was an outstanding wrestler at Rhode Island College from 1991-94. His was the first Anchorman to capture a National Championship by winning the 134 lbs. weight class and attaining All-American status at the 1994 NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships.
The North Reading Mass. native dominated the regional circuit during his RIC career, winning the 134 lbs. weight class at the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships three consecutive seasons from 1992-94 and competing at the NCAA Championships in each of those campaigns.
He posted a 31-1 record as a senior in 1994 and was a member of RIC’s 1992 NECCWA Championship Team. Prior to coming to RIC, Cotter spent one season competing for Plymouth State University and earned All-New England honors with a third place finish during the 1989-90 campaign.
Cotter also recorded a distinguished career while at North Reading High School where he was a two-time Massachusetts State Champion.
Cotter earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Rhode Island College in 1996. He is currently the owner of Cotter Masonry, which he has operated for nearly 20 years.
He resides in North Reading and is the proud father of one daughter, Jade (12).
